The Michigan Organizing Collaborative (MOC) is a statewide network of civic, labor, faith-based and social service organizations organized as a joint project of the Harriet Tubman Center in Detroit and Flint Area Congregations Together (FACT). The mission of the MOC is to create a broadly shared agenda for renewal of Michigan that ties together the interests of revitalizing our communities.
1. Identify and recruit volunteers based on assigned field plan
2. Provide training and development to paid and volunteer canvassers to execute successful voter registration, get-out-the-vote, and other civic engagement efforts in specific geographical neighborhoods and congregations in target areas
3. Develop relationships with congregations and community organizations to achieve program goals
4. Develop relationships with County Clerks and Boards of Elections
5. Register voters directly
6. Set up and monitor phone banking and door-to-door canvassing operations
7. Manage and hold accountable volunteers and participating clergy
8. Daily Door-to-door canvassing and/or phone banking assignments
1. Experience with volunteer recruitment and management
2. Experience working in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
3. A track record of setting and meeting goals
4. Experience working with low income and underrepresented communities
5. Experience working with religious congregations
6. Passion for social justice and a strong commitment to strengthening participation in the democratic process
7. Highly enthusiastic and creative with the ability to motivate others
8. Spanish Language fluency a plus
9. Reliable transportation required
Fellows will receive a monthly stipend (no benefits) and the best on-the-ground training they can receive.

During the 3-month Internship, successful interns become increasingly clear about “power,” how to build power. They build strategic public relationships, move public relationships into powerful action and reflect on the process of organizing. The successful first phase intern will demonstrate the following capacities:

At least a sophomore, graduating senior have preference, possession of a valid driver's license, access to a private vehicle for day-to-day job performance, cell phone, and a laptop compute.
Stipend available to students who successfully complete internship at the end of the summer. Local travel expenses are reimbursed.
